Action movie monster

Question?   Submit   Non action/martial arts movies

My reviews and opinions of the action movies I watch. I like recommending movies, and that is what this blog is for. The movies I review are mostly Asian or Pan-Asian.

Re-blog, take off the captions if you want to, or leave it, I don't mind at all.

I do not own any of the images, pictures or videos unless stated otherwise.

I apologize if I don’t make sense in the plot or the the text at the bottom of the plot reviews. Please know that I write these at night when I am tired and I am likely to make no sense. But now I sound like I am making excuses, well just watch the movies, maybe you’ll get what I mean.

Flashpoint (2007)
Starring: Donnie Yen, Louis Koo, Collin Chou, Xing Yu
Director: Wilson Yip
Plot:  Jun is a loose-canon cop who likes to catch his bad guys; and is trying to catch three drug dealing brothers. Jun’s friend, Wilson, is an undercover cop infiltrating the brothers’ group; but when he is caught, and revenge is to be taken by the three brothers, Jun must try to protect his friend.
I was a bit disappointed with this movie. It’s a good movie, but because of all the hype I was hearing that “next to Ip Man 1 and 2, this is Donnie Yen’s best movie” it was a bit of a let down. The scene with Donnie Yen fighting Xing Yu is really good, but the end fight with Collin Chou wasn’t that great; some moves were awesome, but it wasn’t what I was expecting. But I still think this is a good movie that everyone should watch.

Went to Best Buy today to check out the movies, because they seem to have a good selection on Action/martial arts movies; I was disappointed, I was planning on buying Ip Man 2 because I haven’t seen it yet (yeah, I haven’t seen Ip Man 2 yet, shoot me) but they didn’t have it.

Got Flash Point though, another movie I’ve been wanting to watch for a while. It stars Donnie Yen, Louis Koo (Triple Tap, Protégé, Election) , and Collin Chou (The Matrix Reloaded, Forbidden Kingdom)

Asian Movie Pulse relays news that “Ip Man 3” will start production at the end of 2012. Star Donnie Yen will return in the titular role, along with director Wilson Yip. This time around, Ip Man’s most famous pupil – Bruce Lee – is set to have a much larger role in the story. Read why the film will also have a much bigger budget than the previous two installments at the link: http://www.cityonfire.com/will-we-see-a-ip-man-3-in-3d/

Wow… not really sure what to think of this. Ip Man is awesome, but it sucks when it seems like it starts to be more about the money and milking a movie or franchise than actually making a good movie. I think Ip Man 3 could have waited a while, but that’s just me.
